I believe we can achieve anything we set our minds to and that developing new skills will help us make it happen.
Imagine how you would feel if you were as excited about Mondays as you are about Saturdays, if your work was so fulfilling that it did not feel like work at all, and if you designed a business that supported your ideal lifestyle, using skills you enjoy to help others.
Hello Lovely Friend. I’m Katrinah and I teach web skills so that you can empower yourself with the skills you need to design a life on your own terms.
Web skills can help you bring your idea to life, create your online business, earn side income and live your dreams. I believe this because web skills are what made it possible for me to create my dream business and lifestyle.
I started building websites for friends and nonprofits using Dreamweaver back in 2003. Building websites was a lot of fun: I enjoyed helping my friends bring their ideas to life online and market their projects. At the same time, I had a lot of fun teaching myself how to code and tapping into my creative side. With each website launch you see your time, energy and creativity come to life in a tangible way. It’s a great feeling!
For the next seven years I continued to build websites for fun while working at a corporate job during the day. I was grateful for my job, it enabled me to pay my bills. But I knew in my heart there was something else I should be doing.
The only problem: I couldn’t figure out what that “thing” was that I was supposed to do.
I listened to Steve Jobs’ 2005 Stanford commencement speech over and over again for inspiration.
Meanwhile, I kept developing my web skills, attending as many startup, social media and WordPress meetups as I could find in San Francisco where I was living at the time.
I learned about WordPress at one of these meetups and quickly adopted it when I discovered how much easier it was as a tool to create websites. WordPress also has an amazing developer community and is super adaptable given the large amount of plugins and features that can be added to a website.
When the economy took a downturn, I started my web business out of necessity. I couldn’t find a job and I had to do something. In the process, I learned that life can truly work in unexpected ways. After spending years trying to find my true north, I discovered it unexpectedly by building my own business.
My mission is to help you learn the web skills you need to empower yourself to create an online business you love.
Thank you for inspiring me.
Let’s get started!
Do what you love.
You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.
And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.
As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle. – Steve Jobs
